Pregnancy means something different to every single person who experiences it

It might be…

→ A torturous (but exciting) waiting game
→ The best you’ve ever felt
→ Some combination of nausea-and-love-inducing

Whatever maternity means to you, it’s the end of a chapter,
and the beginning of a new ADVENTURE. And, you know you’ll want to remember it.

These aren’t your typical stand-in-a-field-in-a-long-flowy-dress MATERNITY photos

(unless you want them to be)

Instead, we can take a walk around the city, grab coffee at your favorite café, pop into a bookstore, or hang out at home in the living room with your soon-to-be newborn’s big siblings.

I won’t ask you to hold your belly and marvel at how beautiful your pregnancy is. But I will ask you to hold your belly and show it off — be proud of that human you are growing. Together, we’ll create images that make you feel comfortable, and are true to you.

Look back and REMEMBER…

The time BEFORE
your baby arrived

whether you were full of excitement, nerves, both or neither. If you choose to capture this time, you’ll be able to show baby the adventures you went on together before they were even born

TOGETHER

when the world was new to your baby, and you were still learning to communicate with one another. But you could be certain your newborn understood this: they were (and always will be) fiercely loved

“I strongly recommend Rebecca as your photographer to capture important life events— you won’t regret it :)”

“I was searching for photographers in Portland area to take some candid photographs when we found Rebecca. She stood apart from other photographers I have talked to, from the very first day! She was easy going and spent quite a lot of time understanding what we were looking for in the photo sessions. Initially we thought of only maternity + in home newborn session but once we saw the pictures from the maternity session, we went ahead and booked the fresh 48 session too, in order to capture the entire journey for our newborn’s birth. She has great eye for the details, good sense of photo composition and she even provided consultation on choosing outfits appropriately for the day of the photo sessions! I strongly recommend having her as your photographer to capture important life events.
You won’t regret it :)

Thank you Rebecca, for capturing our journey so vividly! Hope to schedule many more sessions with you in the future :)”

HOW TO SELECT A LOCATION FOR YOUR PHOTO SESSION

Frequently Asked QUESTIONS

  • Ensuring that you are feeling your best and that your belly is nice and round is the best time for your maternity photo session. This typically occurs between 28 and 34 weeks. During the seventh month most expecting moms are still able to move around easily and are feeling great. Also, when your photo session occurs between 28 and 34 weeks, you should receive your edited photo gallery back before the baby arrives.

I would recommend that moms who are expecting twins have their session prior to 28 weeks, depending on how they are feeling. Twin bumps are more prominent faster, so we can plan your session at an earlier time during your pregnancy.

  • The location for your maternity session can be just as individualized as you and your growing family. I have many local Portland locations that I love for family and maternity sessions, which you can read about here. We can also travel further afield including the Columbia Gorge and Oregon Coast (*Travel Fee Required). Another great option is to hold your maternity session at your home. This can provide a nice juxtaposition when baby arrives and we do your lifestyle newborn photos in the same location.

The primary importance when selecting the location is that it will be easy for you to get around at the location safely. One of my favorite locations for maternity sessions is in downtown portland due to the ease to park and get around.

  • What to wear for your maternity session can be as unique as you! I would consider what your favorite clothing styles are, and go from there to select your wardrobe. Form fitting dresses really accentuate the bump, but looser flowy dresses canwork well also by adding movement.

You would just need to hold the bump to show it off in a looser dress. And, you don’t have to wear a dress!! If you love leggings, jeans, skirts, and cute bump highlighting tops, these can work well and highlight your personality.

I have a complete guide to help with this that is delivered after you book your session. But, in the meantime you can check out these tips on what to wear for your newborn session.

  • Yes!! I love to include all family members in a maternity photo shoot. This can include partners, children, and the family cat or dog. We’ll take into consideration who is coming to a session when planning the amount of time needed and selecting a location.

  • Although bedrest and an activity restriction can limit many events during ones pregnancy, we can definitely still do a maternity photo session. In this case I would recommend that the session occur at your home, and we would just take things slow, with minimal moving around your home. Think lots of snuggling photos on the couch or in the master bedroom. And you will be amazed with the lovely gallery we’ll be able to create together.

  • We can chat about your maternity session to see if it makes sense to add on a shortened session with your booked newborn session, or if you have a family with multiple children and will approach this as a full maternity session.

  • If we are shooting an in-home lifestyle session for your family, incorporating your pets is always a bonus, and purely dependent on their cooperation. Some pets are into it, and others get shy, so we would take our time to see if we can include them as much as you wish in your photos.

  • You are under no obligation to use your Print Credit, but I am not able to give you a discount on your selected Collection if you don't want to use it. Your Print Credit is baked into the price of your Collection and has no cash value. If you're not in the mood for printed products, you can always purchase your slideshow, more digital images, or prints as gifts for family members.
